Hugh Cort, or How I Learned to Accept Nukes in Mosques

http://www.hughcort2008.com/

Hugh Cort is a Republican from Alabama activly pursuing the Republican nomination. You probably havn't heard of him because he's working on budget that appears to be a dare. He's from Mountain Brook, the Manhattan of Birmingham, without the culture. What's really scary about Cort is that he calls himself a counter-terrorism expert. He wrote a book with Paul L. Williams about how Saddam Hussien committed the 9-11 atrocities. Paul's latest book, The Day of Islam, explains how if we don't do something to stop it, i.e. voting for Cort, al Qaeda will explode nuclear weapons in the United States. If you think this is unpopular nationally, Paul used to be a consultant to the FBI for terrorist activity. One can only image how many faithful American Muslims have been targeted by this creep. Thank God he's being sued right now for 2 million, claiming in his book Dunces of Doomesday, that Islamic fundamentalists 180 pounds of unspecified "nuclear material" from McMaster Nuclear Reactor in Hamilton, Ontaio. I mean, he has to just make this shit up. It's like he sits around and stews about how to instill fear in people, all for the sake of furthering his religious beliefs. Watch this:

I know, I know, that looks like a joke. That ad could be mistaken for some dumb parody ad on youtube, but this guy is alive and kicking. Actually, he's good friends with Roy Moore. Here's a qoute from his campaigning:

"America has gotten so far away from God with abortion and homosexual marrainge that we have gotten out from under God's protection and a million times worse than 9-11 is going to happen if we don't get back under God's protection.

Some more facts about Hugh Cort:

~He believes Saddam Hussien was behind 9-11
~He believes Osama bin Laden has an "American Hiroshima" plan to blow up ten major cities with suitcase nukes hidden in mosques.
~He does not believe in Global Warming, but he does believe the Sun could be getting hotter.
~He wants to go to war with Iran, to avoid Iran going to war.

His plan, if elected by divine super-vote, is to issue an executive order banning same-sex marraige and abortion. After bypassing democracy that way, with an unprecedented amount of presidential power, he would hypothetically then veto any bill congress sent to him refuting this. Fortunatly, Hugh Cort is an idiot, and he'll never figure out how to follow through with his Christian coup d'etate.

Nice posts buddy. This fellow does seem to be a duche-rocket but. . . .

No one really knows why the earth is getting hotter. No one knows how much heat greenhouse gasses like Co2 and methane capture and re-emit. There are a lot of questions that can't be answered by GH gas theory alone:

Why did temperature decrease between 1940and the mid 60's (or so)?
Why are things warming up faster in the northern hemisphere (more concrete, less trees? less ocean)?

Why was it so warm 1000 years ago?

My point is that it's not possible to do a controlled experiment with the entire planet. From my perspective as an experimental scientist these people are drawing firm conclusions from some pretty shaky data. There really is controversy amongst climate scientists on this issue but you'd never know it.

To me this issue is an inverse of the 'evolution debate'. Creationists are trying to create scientific controversy where none exists. 'Teach the controversy' they say to school boards. Of course there is no controversy; no one has any cogent theory to explain biology without the concept of evolution.

Conversely there are alternative theories to explain climate change that fit the data; in my opinion better than the prevalent one. But they get very little publicity. Almost no one actually listens.

Actions taken to prevent GH climate change (prompting conservation etc) are noble and excellent and should be pursued.

However, it might be difficult to obtain credibility as an environmentalist in the next century if the shit doesn't hit the fan because we sure as hell aren't going to stop putting carbon into the air.

Keep up the good work, sir!
